Meet at the Shavat/Dashoguz border of Uzbekistan/Turkmenistan, and then visit the architectural monuments of Kone-Urgench, Khorezm capital 10th -12th centuries. Then drive to Darvaza through Karakum desert. After the lunch, continue drive through the Karakum desert to Darvaza. Visit a small nomadic village on the way to the main attraction and immerse into the traditional life style of Turkmen people. Visit the Gas Crater. Stay in a camp with tasty catering; the perfect way to enjoy this highlight. Observe the fantastic view of the crater at daylight and at night, feel the heat and listen to the wind and the sound that this giant oven creates. Rest time.
After breakfast, drive to Ashgabat, check in at the hotel. Lunch at a local restaurant. Then visit the historical monument "Nisa", It was the capital of the Parthian state (since 2007 under the protection of UNESCO), continuing the tour route to the local horse farm to see the Akhal-Teke horses. Breeding horses of different colors, horse riding on a horse inside the farm. Coffee break. Return to the city of Ashgabat. Dinner at a local restaurant. Watch the evening illumination of the city. Overnight at the hotel.
This day will be devoted to short city tour and sightseeing in the capital of Turkmenistan. After breakfast, visit the State Museum of History. It stores ancient artifacts found at the excavations of the settlements Nisa, Merv and Gonurdepe, collection of vintage Turkmen carpets, rare examples of national clothing, jewelries, and antique weapons. The 9 halls display figurines of Athens, Eros, silver gilded griffin, horn-shaped ivory vessels-rhytons of the Parthian era, gold jewelries, medallions-stamps from Margiana and Buddhist artifacts. There are also a lot of fossilized piece of wood of the Paleozoic period, aged 270,000,000, dinosaurs’ footprints, an 820-kg meteorite fallen in Kunya-Urgench in 1998 and a lot more. Continue visit Museum of Carpets. and then visit new parks, a huge complex with fountains and statues of the great men of antiquity. Have dinner and then transfer to the Ashgabat International Airport to board a flight to next destination. End of the Program.
